Stratford-upon-Avon’s reputation as an excellent venue for events and festivals has been further enhanced this year with the addition of the Stratford Home & Garden Show to the town centre.
In its second year, the first show took place just outside the town at Alscot Park in 2014, the show will take place on the Recreation Ground from the 17th to 19th of July.
Stratford Recreation Ground is located just over the river opposite the theatres and within easy walking distance of the town centre so the event makes an excellent reason to visit the town for a weekend mini-break!
The show is the brainchild of locals Steve Brookes and Stephanie Lester who decided to introduce the event out of frustration for a lack of quality home and garden shows in the UK.
Last year’s show was a great success – despite the variable weather conditions – with the Thursday evening charity gala dinner also proving to be incredibly popular.
Show director Steve Brookes has presented a number of times at recent Shakespeare’s England forums – for which we’re both members – and his enthusiasm for the show, the local area and all things horticulture is infectious.
We highly recommend visiting their website – www.stratfordhomeandgardenshow.co.uk – to find out more! Their you can book tickets online, find out who is exhibiting and visit the ‘things to do page’ which gives details of how you can spend the rest of your time in the town when visiting the show.
So how about taking the day off work on the Friday and heading to Stratford-upon-Avon for the weekend? You could explore Stratford on Friday afternoon, head to the home and garden show on the Saturday and then join us on a tour of the fantastic Cotswolds on the Sunday. What’s not to like about that?!
