Those that follow the Twitter & Facebook feeds will have probably picked up on the fact that I fully qualified as a minibus driver yesterday. Needless to say I’m absolutely delighted.
It’s the first major hurdle out of the way as by acquiring the D1 driver’s CPC it allows me to drive vehicles – with up to 16 passenger seats – for hire & reward.
So, in effect, it allows me to be the driver on tours of the Cotswolds. Which is brilliant.
To be that driver though the minibus I drive needs a PSV Operator’s licence from the Office of the Traffic Commissioner.
Which is the next step – acquiring this licence. Sadly this takes at least 9 weeks and our application will only be going in tomorrow.
As I’ve previously alluded to there’s a fair bit of red tape! And for a complete novice in the industry it’s been very eye opening but a June start date is now looking increasingly likely.
Finally, I must share the fact that I got 100% in the test yesterday. My invigilator actually said (quote) “you couldn’t have done any better”.
Those that have done any tests, exams or education with me in the past will know how implausible, for me, that really sounds.
