Here we go again…
In his latest Coronavirus announcement on 31st October 2020, the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that a second ‘Coronavirus lockdown’ will be enforced in England starting at 00:01 on Thursday 5th November 2020.
As a condition of this lockdown, all non-essential businesses are required to close from Thursday 5th November, and people in England will be legally required to stay at home, except for a few specific reasons (read a summary here).
This second lockdown will be in place for at least 4 weeks, pending review at the end of November.
Therefore, very sadly, Go Cotswolds is now closed and all tours have been cancelled until at least the end of November. We have contacted all customers affected by this announcement.
We hope that we might be able to open again from Wednesday 2nd December, but we await further advice from the Government to make this decision.
What’s changed? Lockdown 2.0
According to the UK Government, the regional three-tier alert system announced in mid-October does not appear to be working and the number of Coronavirus cases is increasing rapidly across the country. With the infection rate (“R” number) currently greater than 1, this means that, once again, the National Health Service is at risk of being overwhelmed as more and more people become sick and are admitted to hospital.
Therefore, by imposing another national lockdown and restricting freedom of movement, the Government hopes to reduce the infection rate.
From Thursday 5 November until 2 December, you must stay at home.

Go Cotswolds will be back!
Don’t worry, we’re not going anywhere! Go Cotswolds will be closed during November, and we hope to be able to open again for a few pre-Christmas tours in December – stay tuned for updates! If we are not able to do that, then (all being well) we will reopen in February 2021, after our normal winter break.
In the meantime, Tom and I are busy in the office, working on several new and exciting things for Go Cotswolds next year – all will be revealed very soon!
