We’re proud supporters of Caring for the Cotswolds, a scheme set up and run by the Cotswolds Conservation Board that offers visitors the opportunity to donate to a variety of important landscape and environmental projects.
Last year we donated £500 to Caring for the Cotswolds, made up of £250 from our generous customers, plus match-funding by ourselves. This year, 160 Go Cotswolds customers donated £315 to Caring for the Cotswolds, which we have again match-funded and rounded up to £650.
Together with other Caring for the Cotswolds members, our donations build a fund to which local groups and organisations can apply for grants to establish projects focusing on wildlife and habitat conservation, heritage preservation, and walking, riding and bridleway improvements.
Previous beneficiaries of the scheme include Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust, which received a grant to provide bird boxes along the River Windrush, an identified hot spot for barn owls; and Ilmington Parish Council to restore a historic gate that was commissioned to mark the Queen’s coronation in 1953.
As a tourism company, we think it’s incredibly important for us to “take nothing but photos, leave nothing but footprints”, so our involvement in the Caring for the Cotswolds scheme is just one way to help to ensure that our business is as environmentally sustainable as possible and that the Cotswolds stays beautiful for generations to come.
Thank you so much for your support!
